baseball: world series 2010

"I WILL NOT watch a Yankees/Phillies World Series."

i said this probably 1000 times over the last few weeks. luckily, neither of those teams made it and we instead have the Rangers (who have never been to the world series) and the Giants (who haven't won it since 1954).

because the Giants are a hated rival of the Dodgers, i will be rooting for Texas (i have always liked Vladimir Guerrero, as well.). regardless of the outcome, though, congratulations to these two smaller market teams. the Rangers have the 23rd highest payroll in baseball, after all.

beer- carlsberg elephant

thanks to iowa's new beer laws, i just tried this one for the first time. it's hard to say what it is, really. it's slightly hoppy, but not a pale ale. my best guess is that it's an "amped up" version of regular carlsberg. the flavor is not overly complex or interesting, yet they do a good job of disguising the considerably high ABV.

baseball: 2010

i was planning on putting my playoff predictions up before they started. i'm already 6 games late but i will be honest:

national league
phillies vs. reds phillies will sweep
braves vs. giants giants in 4

american league
yankees vs. twins twins in 5
rangers vs. rays rays in 5

i'm obviously already very wrong when it comes to the american league. all i know is that i will not watch a yankees/phillies world series. longshot pick: texas rangers. if they can beat the yankees they can win it all.
